SERVICE

Specializing in custom saunas, we focus on a full spectrum of service for our clients, both homeowners and builders. Taking you from concept to turning it on for the first time.

Interior Saunas

At Graham Built, we craft custom and prefabricated traditional saunas. A traditional sauna can be built inside your home or outside. Saunas are a great way to bring family and friends together. Our saunas are made in Calgary by Red Seal carpenters and can stand up to the rigors of an Albertan winter. Contact us by phone or email, and scroll through this section on Saunas for examples of the many different and gorgeous saunas we create for people like you.

Exterior Saunas

People often say that the best path to health includes regular movement, and medical professionals agree. While most of us wish we could sit down and get healthier, it isn’t always that simple–at least not all the time. A sauna, however, gives you the chance to sit down and relax while giving your health a surprising boost!

What is a Sauna?

A sauna is a small room that has been made to expose visitors to heat. There are both indoor saunas and outdoor saunas. Some saunas offer strictly dry heat in the form of infrared waves (infrared saunas). Other saunas, like Finnish saunas offer dry heat with an option to add moisture and increase the humidity. Different types of saunas offer different experiences.

While a steam room certainly stands apart because of its wet heat, the differences between Finnish saunas and infrared saunas are also significant. A Finnish sauna relies on a stove and hot stones located on top of the stove to heat up the room and lower the level of humidity. Infrared saunas rely on light to heat them up–and they actually don’t heat the air in the room. These saunas heat your body up instead.

Health Benefits Offered by Saunas

Although saunas can seem like a luxurious place to relax–and they are–they are popular for more than just the comfort they provide. Saunas can offer a surprising amount of clinically-backed health benefits. All around the world, people use saunas to promote better health. Let’s explore the key health benefits associated with regular sauna use.

Improved Cardiovascular Health

Heart disease is a leading cause of death and disease in several developed countries, which means that  we all need to take steps to protect our cardiovascular health. Saunas are well-known for improving cardiovascular health. In fact, a trip to the sauna a few times a week can lower your risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD), fatal coronary heart disease (CHD), and fatal cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Detoxification

The modern world is full of unexpected toxins that can negatively impact our health over time. A lot of us do not realize how many different toxins they come in contact with on a daily basis. Evidence has shown that saunas can actually reduce the number of dangerous toxins in the body, like pesticides, well after sauna use has stopped.

Reduced Risk of Dementia and Alzheimer’s

It is important to support your health today, but what about your health tomorrow? Dementia and Alzheimer’s are conditions that can negatively impact the later years of a person’s life, and treatment for them is not always effective. Prevention is always the best medicine, and saunas have proven to be an excellent prevention tool. Time spent in saunas is associated with a lower risk of both dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

Pain Reduction

Pain is something the average person wants to avoid, and a trip to the sauna can help. Studies have shown that saunas can reduce standard and chronic pain intensity. The results have been so effective that people have actually made full recoveries and been able to return to work. A sauna can help after an injury–or a hard day at the gym.

Healthier Skin

Your skin plays a key role in your appearance and your body’s natural immune system, so it isn’t surprising that most people want healthier skin. Saunas make skin more stable and hydrated, less red, and more likely to recover. You won’t just feel great–you will look it too.
